Prince Parent Jeff Carter Lunch and Learn Speaker
Prince parent and Board of Trustees member Jeff Carter recently came and spoke to Prince Avenue Christian high school students on the career of engineering as part of the school's Lunch and Learn program. Mr. Carter graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering. After spending several years as vice president of an Atlanta-based engineering firm, Mr. Carter launched Carter Engineering in 2004, a civil engineering and land planning service in Athens.
Mr. Carter explained to students the basics of what engineers do and different types of engineering. He gave relevant examples of engineering in the real world such as mechanics, structure safety, and property design. He took students through the process of starting with a master plan and working with the government on zoning, land, water, and utility requirements.
Mr. Carter concluded by explaining the degree, exams, and professional expectations required to become an engineer.
