Dual Enrollment Classes
Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.
Dual Enrollment classes provide qualified juniors and seniors with the opportunity to take college level coursework for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements. To view a listing of DE Classes offered at PACS click

Benefits of taking a DE Class
Student will develop a college transcript while in high school and experience college curriculum and instructional methods.
Successful DE class completion can shorten the amount of time required to complete a college degree.
DE classes can save money by allowing the State of Georgia to pay for a maximum of 30 semester hours.
DE classes challenge students with a rigorous experience similar to what he/she may expect in college. This will help students gain confidence and build study & test-taking skills.
Student Eligibility
Student must be enrolled at PACS as a junior or senior.
Student must meet Truett McConnell University (TMU) or Point University (Point) admission requirements.
Student must have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher.
Student should be on the "college prep" or "college prep with distinction" diploma track.
Student must have earned a final grade of an 88 or higher in the previous year/semester subject area course and meet any course pre-requisites set by the partnering institutions.
If a student earns a D, F, or I in the first semester of a DE course, the student will be required to enroll in the corresponding CP course for the next semester. If a student receives a C, this action is recommended, but not required.
Class Format
PACS offers DE classes in-house as well as on-line.
In-House:
These classes are taught on the PACS campus during the normal school day.
The teacher will be a PACS employee who is qualified as an adjunct TMU/Point University professor.
The class will appear in FACTS so assignments and grades will be available.
On-Line:
A TMU/Point University professor teaches the course.
Students will be assigned to a class period proctored by a PACS teacher.
All class aspects including scheduling, assignments, due dates, grades, IT requirements, browser lockdown, etc. are controlled by the professor.
On-line courses will not appear in FACTS nor on a PACS report card. Grades will appear on the student transcript only.
The PACS attendance policy applies to this course (a point deduction on your high school transcript for each absence in excess of five unexcused absences).
Grading for DE classes (In-House and On-Line)
The grade that a student earns in a DE course will count for high school credit and college credit and the grade will go on BOTH transcripts.
A student's report card/transcript at PACS will include ten extra points on his/her grade and one quality point on their GPA at the end of the semester.
A student's transcript at TMU / Point will not include the extra points. Only the raw letter grade will be reported.
Grades earned in DE courses are computed in a student's high school GPA, college GPA, and initial high school HOPE/Zell Miller eligibility.
All grades, pass or fail, will be added to each transcript.
Grades are awarded by semester (full 18 weeks), rather than by the average of two quarters.
Financial Information for DE classes
The State of Georgia will pay for a maximum of 30 DE semester hours.
Students who take more than 30 hours will be billed for any credits above 30 and must pay the partnering University directly.
The State of Georgia will pay for the first two DE courses that a student may withdraw from, however, the student will be ineligible for future DE funding.
Textbooks for DE courses are provided by TMU / Point, however, students may be required to pay book rental fees, lab fees, etc. if a course requires them.
DE Classes through non-partnering institutions
PACS has a partnership with TMU and Point Universities. It may be possible to take a DE course from another institution if the following criteria are met:
A student must receive prior authorization from the PACS Director of Academic Counseling.
The course must NOT be one that is offered at PACS or online through TMU or Point.
If a DE course is taken without PACS approval, that course will not be added to a student's PACS transcript and the student must still meet all graduation requirements without the unrecognized course.

Course Rigor:
*
I understand that DE classes are demanding and that if I fail to pass a DE course, I may jeopardize my high school graduation status.
Semester Exams:
*
I understand that DE semester exams are determined by TMU / Point and there are no exam exemptions. As a senior, I may need to return to school to take the final exam even after the last official school day for seniors.
DE College Credit:
*
I understand that PACS cannot guarantee how DE courses will be counted in college. I will check with the institution(s) I am planning to attend to obtain their guidelines and transfer equivalency rules.
Parent Parent Rigor:
DE Credit Maximum
*
I understand that the State of Georgia will pay for a maximum of 30 semester credit hours and that it is my responsibility to track my DE courses. I will be responsible for paying for any hours attempted beyond 30.
PACS Attendance Policy
*
I understand that both In-House and On-Line DE classes will adhere to the PACS attendance policy. On my PACS high school transcript, a one point deduction will be taken on my semester grade for each unexcused absence over five.
Transcript Requests:
*
Upon graduation, I understand that I will need to make separate requests to have my transcript sent to the College/University of my choice. I will request my high school transcript through Prince and I will request my college transcript from TMU / Point.
