Athletes Earn State and Region Honors
Prince Avenue Christian School athletes have been named to state and region teams in recognition of their athletic achievement during the fall seasons.
Softball seniors Haley Thompson and Alex Bettis were named to the All-State First Team, and senior Brie Floyd, juniors Lyndey McCurry and Kaley Garmon, and Freshman Randee Bettis were placed on the All-State Second Team. Alex Bettis and Thompson were also named alternates to the North team for GACA State All-Star Game. Thompson was named Region 8A Player of the Year, and Randee Bettis was named Region Freshman of the Year. Honored as members of the Regioin 8A First Team were Alex Bettis, Floyd, and McCurry. Second Team players were sophomore Kadijah Arnold and Garmon.
Volleyball players Katie Looney and Amber Howell, both seniors, were named to the Region 8A First Team.
Senior Wolverine football player William McNeely was honored as Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Also named to the Region 8-A Team as offensive linemen were Quinn Adamson and Dillon Faulkner, defensive backs Carl Mattox and Rob Farriba, and defensive linemen Tyler Parrish and James Shirley. Graham Sibley was honored with a “Rudy” Award by the region, and Mark Zeagler was named a Scholar Athlete.
Zeagler also received a National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Scholarship, which will be presented at a Chick-Fil-A Bowl breakfast ceremony in late December.
