Faculty 2024-2025
Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for a full-time middle school or high school English teacher.
Overview:
The primary function of this position is to teach English (specific content area may be determined by the teacher’s experience) and to foster students’ enthusiasm for language arts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the middle school principal or high school principal and academic dean to prepare course syllabus and curriculum to:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver traditional classroom and online instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Develop a rapport with students that motivates and fosters enthusiasm.
- Creatively integrate technology in the classroom to enhance teaching.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and school goals.
- Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.

Job Title: Head of School Administrative Assistant
Direct Supervision: Head of School
Scope of Work: Twelve Month Position
Expected Start Date: Monday, June 10, 2024
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Head of School, the Head of School Administrative Assistant assists in duties relating to a variety of departmental and campus-wide activities. This twelve-month position provides direct support to the Head of School by organizing appointments and interacting with board members, parents, faculty, staff, Prince Avenue Baptist Church leadership, and organizations in the local community.
The Head of School Administrative Assistant shall be a committed Christian who is active in an evangelical church ministry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive incoming calls for Head of School and refer callers as necessary
- Process daily incoming mail for Head of School
- Assist in correspondence for the Head of School
- Help coordinate and schedule appointments for Head of School
- Assist in preparation of School Board meetings agendas and handout materials as specified by the Head of School
- Arrange business and conference travel for Head of School and other team members as assigned
- Assist in the organizational aspects of meetings including planning, coordinating, and developing forms. Take minutes as needed.
- Research, compile, and complete projects as directed
- Oversee processing of facility/calendar requests through the ESpace calendaring program
- Post employment opportunities on appropriate websites as directed
- Maintain employment applications/resumes file
- Maintain appropriate documents in the shared files in Microsoft Teams
- Review incoming invoices, stamp “date received”, and distribute to the appropriate departments
- Review expense forms and sign checks

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience:
- Member of a team-oriented office staff
- Computer skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher
- Proven ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in a school setting is a plus
- Previous experience as an Executive Assistant preferred

Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for the position of Academic Tutor for middle and high school grades in the ESS Learning Center. This is a full-time position.
Overview:
The primary function of this position is to provide academic support to students in need. It will also provide additional support, most often in math, English, and study skills, for our students in the form of a temporary period of intervention to augment skills not mastered in the classroom.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the ESS Director to assist students who need additional instruction in academic classes.
- Schedule tutoring sessions for the students assigned at various times so that academic instructional time is not missed.
- Use best practices to tutor students in a manner that develop habits and skills for students to become independent learners.
- Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend professional development classes as they are available.
- Assist with any test proctoring needed.

Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for the position of substitute coordinator. This is a full-time position.
Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Substitute Coordinator is to ensure the timely placement of substitute teachers into the classroom and to provide administrative support as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responds to a variety of inquiries/requests for substitute teachers from faculty.
- Coordinate and ensure all classes are covered in a timely manner.
- Update the substitute portal with the confirmed coverage for each class.
- Work with principals to ensure faculty substitute requests are logged appropriately.
- Train new substitutes in their job requirements.
- Fill in and cover classes as needed.
- Report directly to the Academic Dean substitute issues and/or concerns.
- Complete other assignments/duties as requested by the Academic Dean or HOS.

The primary function of this position is to assist the librarian with the day-to-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the librarian to ensure the following areas are operating at an efficient level:
Circulation desk:
- Greet/assist patrons and volunteers
- Check-in/checkout books
- Manage desk calendar for LS classes, HS schedule, Librarian meetings, library events
- Process Holds
- Process teacher requests
Collection:
- Process new books/lost book replacements/donations
- Spring inventory
- Weeding books from collection
- Run report for “lost” books
- Contact families via FACTS for overdue books
- Email business office/families via FACTS to charge family accounts for lost or damaged books
Barnabas:
- Mark attendance in FACTS
- Monitor students’ sign-in and movement
- Monitor key fob inventory
- Monitor phone caddy
Other duties:
- Fill-in for Librarian if a sub is not available
- Monitor office supply/library supply needs
- Re-stock bookmarks bi-weekly
- Print weekly volunteer schedule for circulation desk and office

Staff - Ongoing Availability
OVERVIEW: In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages students’ progress, and manages the learning environment in accordance with the goals and directives of the school.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures consistency and encourages student participation
- Maintain a well-managed classroom that fosters a safe and positive teaching and learning environment
- Assign classwork and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans
- Ensure adequate supervision of students
- If necessary, supervise students in areas outside of the classroom (chapel, cafeteria, playground, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
