The Fine Arts Department travels each year to perform and participate in workshops.
Through the venue of travel, students learn to live and work together as a community, observe and analyze art from a Christian worldview perspective, and experience other cultures. By attending professional performances, students view the application of the skills and knowledge they have learned in their classes and productions. Students gain an understanding of work ethic, discipline, artistry, and creative abilities in working with professionals in the fields of visual and performing arts.
New York City
Every other year, Prince Avenue Christian School Fine Arts Students have the opportunity to visit New York City and experience many cultural activities. In past years, students have sung in Carnegie Hall as a part of the Christian Schools Chorale, visited art museums, participated in Broadway show workshops and backstage tours, and worshipped at culturally diverse city churches.
Walt Disney World
Prince Avenue Christian School students travel to the Walt Disney World parks, where they have performed concerts and participated in the Disney Sings! and Disney Broadway Magic! workshops which are conducted by Disney professionals.
Fine Arts students have the opportunity to work with some of Nashville’s finest musicians through worship, workshops, and other events.
The Prince Band travels each spring to various locations throughout the southeastern United States. Destinations have included Carowinds Park in North Carolina, St. Augustine, Universal Studios in Orlando, Norfolk Virginia, Virginia Beach, Nashville, and Tampa.
Prince Band students have participated in a songwriting workshop with music industry professionals, a church music workshop with a professional arranger from a national music publishing company, a recording session with a film score company, and a national music festival performance evaluation. Cultural experiences have included maritime and nautical museums, city tours, historical sites, professional stage shows and theater productions, symphony concerts, and many other events designed to broaden our students’ perspectives of the world around them.
Prince Avenue Christian School Fine Arts students have the opportunity to share Christ through the arts. At Camp Gideon, the only Christian camp in Estonia, students teach English through the arts and biblical integration. Students also lead worship at the camp and in local churches.
