The modeling of Christ-like behavior in the form of volunteer service is an integral part of a Prince Avenue education.
In lower and middle school, students will be given many opportunities to participate in service to the community and are encouraged to incorporate volunteer service into their activities outside of school.
Some of these ministry opportunities are:
- Canned Food Drive
- Donations to local organizations such as Kids First, Athens Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Downtown Academy
- Book Drives
- “Big Thank You” letters to service members
- “Empty Bowls” to benefit A Bigger Vision
- Handmade Blanket donations to local law enforcement
High School Volunteer Service Requirements
Prince high school students must accumulate sixty-five hours of volunteer service to meet graduation requirements from Prince Avenue Christian School.
This is intended to be an incremental approach that leads up to the capstone service project senior year which is the international mission trip. The volunteer service hours accumulated in each grade must be completed before the student begins the next school year. Documented summer service hours will be accepted.
Students may accumulate their volunteer service hours as an individual or as a member of a group. Service Club Advisors (Beta, Interact Club, NHS or NJHS), grade advisors, co-curricular teachers, and athletic team coaches routinely seek volunteer service opportunities for the students to build camaraderie within their respective programs.
Volunteer Service Hour Requirement by Grade
|1||9th Grade||10 hours|
|2||10th Grade||15 hours|
|3||11th Grade||20 hours|
|4||12 Grade||20 hours (fulfilled if the student attends the senior mission trip)|
