The modeling of Christ-like behavior in the form of volunteer service is an integral part of a Prince Avenue education.
In lower and middle school, students will be given many opportunities to participate in service to the community and are encouraged to incorporate volunteer service into their activities outside of school.
High School Volunteer Service Requirements
- Prince high school students must accumulate 65 hours of volunteer service to meet graduation requirements from Prince Avenue Christian School.
This is intended to be an incremental approach that leads up to the capstone service project senior year which is the international mission trip. The volunteer service hours accumulated in each grade must be completed before the student begins the next school year. Documented summer service hours will be accepted. - The calendar dates for service hours are May 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024.
Students who do not meet their service hour requirements by April 30, 2024, will be required to take the Bible final exam even if all other exemption criteria have been met. - Students who have missing hours will be required to complete those hours by the start of the following school year to avoid further penalties.
Students may accumulate volunteer service hours as an individual or as a member of a group. Service club advisors (Beta, Interact Club, NHS or NJHS), grade advisors, co-curricular teachers, and athletic team coaches routinely seek volunteer service opportunities for the students to build camaraderie within their respective programs and to serve the community.
