Intentional, Age-Appropriate Technology
At Prince Avenue Christian School, we believe technology is an important tool for learning—but it should be used with purpose and in ways that are appropriate for each stage of a student’s development. Our approach is intentionally laddered across PreK–12, providing students with increasing access, responsibility, and digital skills as they mature.
In lower school, technology is introduced thoughtfully and in moderation. Students have access to classroom devices when they enhance a lesson or provide a meaningful learning opportunity. This allows teachers to balance digital learning with hands-on experiences, collaboration, creativity, reading, writing, and personal interaction.
In middle school, students are assigned individual devices and begin taking greater ownership of their digital learning. Technology becomes a more consistent part of the academic experience as students develop skills in digital citizenship, keyboarding, Microsoft 365, student email, research, collaboration, organization, and responsible technology use. Teachers intentionally integrate devices when they support instruction, communication, and academic growth.
By high school, students continue in our 1-to-1 technology environment with increasing independence and responsibility. Individual devices, Microsoft 365, learning management tools, and student email provide students with platforms for completing assignments, communicating with teachers and classmates, collaborating, conducting research, and developing the digital skills needed for college and career.
Our IT staff is here to support your student’s educational technology needs throughout his or her time as a Wolverine.
