Brightwell named STAR Student
Senior Ella Brightwell was named the 2013-14 STAR student from Prince Avenue Christian School, scoring the highest on one sitting of the SAT test this year. She selected English teacher Jimmy Phillips as her STAR teacher. Both were recently honored at the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Star Student breakfast.
Brightwell has received numerous honors of her academic achievement as a student at Prince Avenue. She was named an AP Scholar by the College Board, received the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit, and has been named Wolverine Gold and Silver Academician, and was the Wolverine Junior Scholar for earning the highest PSAT score.
She was selected as a participant in the Dean Stuart Feldman UGA School of Pharmacy Summer Science Institute, and has served as a teen volunteer at Athens Regional Medical Center. She is a frequent volunteer with Hands On Northeast Georgia, serving at the local food bank and with Rivers Alive, and as a guide for Taste of Athens.
She is an active member of Royston First United Methodist Church, and a volunteer with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children's Church. She has participated as a volunteer with Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, and the Angel Tree Ministry.
