Students Honored at DAR Luncheon
PACS senior, Gabby Sims and eighth grader, Taylor Bond were recently honored at the Daughters of the American Revolution Apalachee Chapter Awards Luncheon.
Gabby was nominated by PACS teachers for the Good Citizen Award in response to her dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Gabby has exemplified outstanding character and commitment to citizenship both within Prince Avenue as well as in the community.
Taylor Bond was selected as the PACS winner for the DAR American History Essay Contest by members of the Apalachee Chapter. Taylor was honored at the chapter’s Awards Luncheon with a certificate, lapel pin, and a cash prize.
The DAR American History Essay Contest is sponsored each year as a way to promote patriotism and awareness of American History topics beneficial to the current generation. Students voluntarily submit essays outside of their regular classroom assignments. This year’s topic responded to by Taylor was how a colonial family may have reacted to the Stamp Act.
