Douglas Named STAR Student, Selects Strickland as STAR Teacher
Prince Avenue senior Will Douglas was named the 2015-16 STAR Student from Prince Avenue Christian School, scoring the highest on one sitting of the SAT test this year. He selected Drama teacher Joe Strickland as his STAR Teacher. Both will be honored at the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce STAR Student Breakfast.
The son of David and Robyn Douglas, Will is also a member of National Honor Society and Beta Club. He is highly involved in the Fine Arts at PACS having pioneered the founding of the PACS Improvisation Team. Will has participated in all Fine Arts productions during his high school career and plans to major in theatre in college.
When asked about his choice of STAR Teacher, Will explained that Mr. Strickland has had the most influence on his life both in and out of the classroom. “Drama has had a profound effect on my life. It's made me more comfortable in my own skin and helped me express myself better. None of that would have been possible without Mr. Strickland's guidance.”
Will has not yet decided on what college he will attend but in addition to a major in theatre, he plans to pursue a minor or dual major in computer science.
