PACS Golf Teams Place in Area 2A Tournament
The PACS Boys Golf team won the Area 2A Championship on Tuesday for the first time in school history. The Wolverines fired a team score of 318 at the Orchard in Clarkesville, besting Athens Academy by six strokes. Sophomore Will Kahlstorf shot one under par 71 to take the Individual championship, followed by senior Tanner Foster with 79, senior Duncan Taylor with 83, and senior Grant Crowell with 85. Freshmen Bradley Lastinger and Peyton Shedd scored 86 and 93, respectively.
The Boys Golf team now advances to the State Tournament to be held at Forest Hills in Augusta.
The PACS Girls Golf team was the surprise team in the tournament with a second place finish. Their score of 221 was only eight shots behind the champions, Tallulah Falls, and one shot better than third place Athens Academy. The PACS Girls Golf team is comprised of two freshmen, Delaney Cook and Hope Hewatt. Delaney scored a 102, and Hope recorded 119. Each score was a season’s best.
The Girls Golf team now advances to the Sectional Tournament to be played at Lane Creek on May 2.
PACS Golf Coach, Jimmy Phillips, expressed his enthusiasm for his teams' performances in the tournament. “It was a historic day for Prince Avenue Christian Golf. Our boys were the favorite and came through with a few birdies down the stretch to seal the win. Will was zoned in throughout the day, beating his closest competitor by 7 shots. Tanner, Duncan, and Grant endured a tough back nine to maintain our lead. And our girls were fantastic. Delaney and Hope each conquered the back nine to secure second place. Coach Henderson and I could not be prouder of the performance of our players.”
The PACS Boys Golf team placed first in the Area 2A Championship. The Girls Golf team placed second.
