PACS Seniors Receive 2015-16 Rotary Student of the Semester Award
Two Prince Avenue seniors were named Rotary Student of the Semester for the 2015-16 school year. Sarah Beth Johnson was honored fall semester, and Zachary Ware was honored spring semester.
The Rotary Student of the Semester is selected by PACS teachers for demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”. The Rotary Club recognizes these students at a special breakfast along with a teacher chosen by the student to share the honor.
Sarah Beth Johnson selected science teacher Dale Autrey. “Mr. Autry has been my Cross Country coach since freshmen year, and I took AP Physics with him this year. He is funny and kind and truly exhibits Christ-like character in every way. He pushed me not only in academics and athletics but also spiritually to become the best person I could be.”
During high school Sarah Beth received Principal’s Honor Roll and the Wolverine Scholar Athlete Award. She was in the Beta Club, National Honor’s Society, FCA Leadership, and Prayer Team. Sarah Beth was also active in athletics running cross country and track, playing basketball and soccer, and riding horses. Outside of school, Sarah Beth volunteered at F.I.S.H. (Faith in Serving Humanity) in Loganville and also helped her mother at a school for children with learning disabilities. Sarah Beth attends Corinth Christian Church. She plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in Physics and Neuroscience.
Zachary Ware selected English teacher Kristina Mast as his teacher representative. “I chose Mrs. Mast because she sets a Christ-like example for students by her relationships with her family, friends, students, and other teachers. She depicts the kind of teacher Prince Avenue desires to have.”
Zachary attends First Baptist Church of Monroe. He has also volunteered at F.I.S.H. in Monroe, helped with Love Where You Live (a program that invests time and effort in serving Walton County), and has gone on mission trips to Arkansas and Ghana. Zachary plans to attend Truett-McConnell College and will major in Theology and Business.
Sarah Beth Johnson was chosen fall Rotary Student of the Semester, and Zachary Ware was chosen spring Rotary Student of the Semester for the 2015-16 school year.
