Shedd, Simmons, and Hilton Sign to Play Sports in College
Three Prince Avenue seniors signed this week to play sports at the college level. Peyton Shedd signed to play Golf at Truett McConell College. Mack Simmons signed to play football at Presbyterian College, and Josh Hilton signed to play football at Sewanne University.
Head Golf Coach Jimmy Phillips describes Peyton Shedd as a hard working individual who has remained teachable throughout his high school career. “Through hard work and determination, and with a willingness to learn from others along the way, Peyton has improved more than any golfer I have coached. His desire to be the best and his positive approach will surely ensure that his transition to college golf will be a quick and successful one.”
Head Football Coach Greg Vandagriff was enthusiastic to have two players sign. He describes Mack Simmons as a player who buys into the process of hard work. “In coaching, you want to see a young man doing extra reps in the weight room and committing to the job of being a good football player. It has been a pleasure to coach him and Presbyterian is not only getting a good football player but an even better young man.”
Vandagriff said it was also a pleasure to coach Josh Hilton. “He is a throw-back old-school type of player. He constantly played hurt, sacrificed himself for his teammates and worked hard to represent his parents and team the right way. We want to wish him the best at Sewanee, as they are getting a wonderful player and young man.”
