Becky Padgett Honored by Friends and Former Colleagues with Gift to School
When Prince Avenue Christian School second-grade teacher Becky Padgett accomplished the distinguished honor of Georgia Independent School Association Master Teacher in 2017, a group of her friends and former colleagues took notice.
Previous to coming to Prince Avenue, Mrs. Padgett spent the years 1982-84 and 1999-2013 on the faculty at Athens Academy where she made many friends who are still in contact with her and admire her work with children. It was this group that chose to honor Mrs. Padgett’s Master Teacher accomplishment by sending monetary gifts to PACS in honor of her achievement.
PACS Lower School Principal Becky Callaway was careful in choosing how to allocate these gifts. “Our goal all along for using this money was to touch as many students’ lives as possible in our purchase.” It was with this objective in mind that Mrs. Callaway chose to use the money to purchase books that would be the beginning of a special science library that could supplement and enhance the PACS lower school science program.
The books, along with a new bookshelf and commemorative plaque, are now the physical reminder of Mrs. Padgett’s years of dedication to the field of teaching, her commitment to the education of each child that comes through her classroom, and the many meaningful relationships she has developed throughout her career in teaching.
