Prince senior Abigail Durocher has been selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester chosen by teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”.
Abigail is the daughter of Steven and Kathryn Durocher and has attended Prince Avenue for 13 years. Abigail chose high school history teacher Karen Barrett to share this honor with her. Abigail explains that Mrs. Barrett cares about her students not just academically but spiritually. “She is intentional with everyone around her and truly wants to see her students succeed and grow in their desire for the Lord.”
Mrs. Barrett describes Abigail as a student who not only strives for excellence in academics but also cares about others. “Abigail is warm, friendly, and loving to her family, friends, and teachers. She is quick to offer a smile and an encouraging word. She is willing to listen to others and share her own heart.”
During her time at Prince, Abigail has been in the National Honors Society, Beta Club, National Art Honors Society, and Interact Club. Abigail was also a Varsity Cheerleader, a member of the Varsity Girls Tennis Team, and a Barnabas Mentor.
Abigail attends Watkinsville First Baptist Church where she serves in the children’s ministry and as a small group leader for 6th-grade girls. She plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in apparel design and merchandising.
