Gann Receives DAR Good Citizenship Award

Prince senior Claire Gann was recently awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizenship Award for Prince Avenue Christian School. Prince high school faculty select a senior who displays dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to receive the award. Claire was chosen because she encompasses these qualities in school and in her community.
Claire is the daughter of Parker and Elizabeth Gann, and she has attended Prince for three years. Some of her many accomplishments include the Wolverine Bronze Academian for the 2022 school year, the Candy Todd Best Actress Award, and the Shuler Hensley Best Leading Actress Honorable Mention for her role of Maria Rainer in the Prince production of The Sound of Music.
While a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Tri-M Music Honor Society, Claire is additionally the vice-president of the International Thespian Society and the President of Prince Avenue’s Interact Club. Claire actively participates in the Prince Fine Arts Department, and she has starred in multiple productions.
Atop her many accomplishments and involvements, Claire leads High School Girls’ Bible Study on Wednesday afternoons during lunch. She also attends Prince Avenue Baptist Church and is involved in student ministry, worship ministry, and community outreach. Some of her many service opportunities include working as a camp counselor and participating in a mission trip to Boston, Massachusetts.
Claire hopes to attend Anderson University or Samford University and major in nursing. She accredits much of her growth as an individual and as a student to Prince Avenue’s Fine Arts Department because her involvement has taught her to “step outside of the box, think creatively, and grow as a performer.” Through the encouragement of her teachers and their constant Christ-like example, Claire has learned to think critically and has grown in her studying techniques, and she additionally has discovered a group of friends at Prince Avenue that encourage her in academics, extracurriculars, and her love for Christ.
Claire is honored to be recognized by her teachers and administration for the DAR Good Citizenship Award. “I have an incredible amount of respect for our faculty, and the fact that they noticed the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in me is a special blessing.”
