Varsity Softball Team Having Undefeated 2023 Season
The Prince Varsity Girls Softball team has had an undefeated 2023 season. Recently, guest writer Cole Moody highlighted the team’s accomplishment vs. visiting opponent Stephens County in an August 26th match-up.
On a sweltering hot Saturday morning, the Prince Avenue Lady Wolverines soundly defeated the Stephens County Indians with a score of 7-0 in a 7-inning game.
Wolverine pitcher Kylee Simmons led the way with 6 strikeouts, allowing a mere 3 hits in a dominant complete-game shutout. She also contributed at the plate, driving in 3 runs with a double to left field in the third inning to jump-start the offense. Afterward, Simmons gave her thoughts on the game and some insight on the team this year: “We did well on defense and made all the right plays.” She also elaborated on the great work ethic in practice. Simmons responded humbly when asked about her big 3-run double and praised the team effort in the offensive fireworks of the 3rd inning.
The final inning introduced a little drama into the otherwise one-sided affair. After the Indians loaded the bases, Simmons came in clutch with a strikeout to end the game and preserve the shutout. “I was just ready to go eat and celebrate with the team” Simmons joked after the contest.
The Lady Wolverines sure have been celebrating a lot lately, remaining undefeated in this 2023 softball season.
