Whalen Selected as Rotary Student of the Semester
Prince senior Jack Whalen was selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester for Fall 2024. Jack was chosen by Prince teachers for his demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”.
Jack is the son of Jennifer and Charles Whalen and has attended Prince for 14 years. He is in the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Art Honor Society (president), and Interact Club. Jack has also served as class president his junior and senior years, played varsity soccer, and is a Barnabas mentor. Jack attends Prince Avenue Baptist Church where he volunteers as a counselor at Camp 78 and travels to Boston on missions each summer.
Jack selected high school science teacher Carrie Owens as his teacher representative to share in this honor. Jack explains, “I chose Mrs. Owens due to her constant reassurance and encouragement she has poured into me the past few years. She has been there for me throughout any of my hardships, and she has helped form me into a better person spiritually by continually reflecting the love and understanding of Jesus onto me and others.”
Mrs. Owens describes Jack as a servant leader who is well deserving of this recognition. “Jack has consistently given his time and talents to better the school community and build camaraderie among the student body. He is always willing to help others.”
Jack plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in finance.
