Bentley Selected as Rotary Student of the Semester
Prince senior Layla Bentley was selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester for Spring 2026. She was chosen by Prince teachers for her outstanding demonstration of the Rotary Club motto, “Service Above Self.”
Layla is in the National Beta Club, National Honor Society (vice president), National Art Honor Society, and the Interact Club and is a University of Georgia Merit Scholar. She is a member of the varsity soccer team (captain), student government (secretary), Barnabas Mentor Program, and Announcement Team and was selected by her peers as Miss PACS. Layla attends Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where she volunteers at summer camps. In addition, she helps with youth soccer camps and Prince library camps.
As part of this honor, Layla selected Prince Librarian Danny Delgado as her teacher representative. Layla describes Mr. Delgado as a prominent figure in her life who has taught her what it looks like to faithfully and humbly serve the Lord throughout every moment. She explains, “In every circumstance or piece of advice given, he relates everything back to Christ, illustrating His strong faith and character. He is truly one of the strongest role models with a passion for the Lord and a servant’s heart I have ever had the privilege of knowing!”
Mr. Delgado describes Layla as a student of character who has made her mark on others. “Layla never waited for permission to lead. She spent years pouring herself into younger kids – mentoring first graders, co-founding a STEM program for budding engineers, logging over a hundred hours serving at a summer learning camp – not because someone required it, but because that’s just who she is.”
Layla plans to attend the University of Georgia and pursue a degree in the medical field.
