In the spirit of recognizing the commitment and dedication of the faculty at Prince Avenue Christian School, the school annually honors select teachers as the Colossians 3:23 Educators of the Year. Nominated by their peers as remarkable educators who do “everything as unto the Lord,” third-grade teacher Amelia Young, middle school English teacher Stacey Sheets, and high school Spanish teacher Jennifer Merenuk have been named the 2025-2026 Prince Educators of the Year. Each educator received a crystal vase and a cash donation provided annually by a generous anonymous donor.
Amelia Young has served as a classroom teacher for four years, all of them at Prince. Her peers describe her as an enthusiastic educator with the ability to reach all learners. “She seeks to establish a strong relationship with each child and will work with them tirelessly until they understand the concepts.”
Young values the unique opportunity at Prince to continue cultivating relationships with students as they grow older. “My desire is for each student to have a deep understanding that they are loved, seen, and known by their Heavenly Father,” she shared.
Stacey Sheets has served in education for 19 years as both a classroom teacher and administrator, including the past two years in the Prince middle school English department. In addition to teaching, she has coached middle school tennis. Her peers describe her as compassionate, diligent, and faithful. “Mrs. Sheets truly cares about her students. She is always thinking up different teaching strategies and creates an engaging learning environment while maintaining high academic standards.”
Sheets says Prince is more than a community — it is a family. She values the shared spiritual and academic mission among faculty and students. “I hope my students leave here knowing that hard things are worth doing, that learning is worth the effort, that serving others is worth the sacrifice, and that Jesus is worth everything!”
Jennifer Merenuk has taught for 10 years, including the past two at Prince, where she teaches Spanish II and Dual Enrollment Spanish. She also hosts a weekly girls’ Bible study in her classroom. Her peers describe her as a dedicated educator who creates a welcoming and engaging classroom environment for students.
Merenuk appreciates the opportunity to connect with students on multiple levels and is thankful for the ability to disciple students in their relationship with the Lord. “In the future, I pray that students at Prince stay true to God’s Word and grow in Him no matter what the world says.”
