Barnabas Mentor Program Begins Its 18th Year

Prince Avenue’s Barnabas student mentor program has officially begun its 18th year. High school student mentors recently spent an afternoon with High School Counselor Jesse Owens for training and preparation for the year ahead.

Mentors learned practical ways to build meaningful relationships with their student mentees and lead them in a Christlike manner. The training included leadership exercises, scheduling, communication with parents and teachers, and an opportunity for mentors to meet their mentees for the coming school year.

Barnabas is a unique program at Prince that gives high school students the opportunity to lead, encourage, and invest in the lives of younger students. At the same time, lower school students benefit from having a trusted, encouraging friend who can help guide and support them as they grow at Prince.
