PACS Advanced Band Performs for District Evaluation
The Prince Avenue Christian School Advanced Band recently performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association District Performance Evaluation. Band Director Miles Adams explains, “The District Performance Evaluation is the ‘standardized test’ for band programs in our state. It is comparable to the SAT for academics or the region tournament for athletics.”
The PACS Advanced Band received ratings from four judges that indicated the level of success in the areas of tone, intonation, technique, balance, and musicality. Each of those areas was assigned a rating for each song performed. The PACS band received a majority of “Superior” ratings along with a few ratings of “Excellent”. Mr. Adams explains that the scores are even more impressive given the grade level of many of the PACS band students. “Half of our band is made up of 7th and 8th graders which was a surprise to some of our judges.”
Mr. Adams is proud of his band members and their hard work. “It is an honor to conduct the Prince Band and see our students share their musical gifts with an appreciative audience and appreciative judges.”
