PACS Literary Team Places First in the GHSA Area 2A Literary Competition
The Prince Avenue Christian School Literary Team won first place in the Area 2A Literary Competition, winning the school’s first team literary competition trophy.
Prince Avenue hosted this year's events with students from all over the region competing in a variety of events, including Girls Trio, Boys Quartet, Girls and Boys Solo, Girls and Boys Extemporaneous Speaking, Girls and Boys Essay, and Girls and Boys Dramatic Interpretation.
Rachel Adams and Cole Hurley each won Girls and Boys Solo events. The Girls Trio, consisting of Katelyn Grider, Joy Harris, and Rachel Adams also placed first, while Rachel Steele (Extemporaneous Speaking) and Josh Whalen, Alex Harding, Luke Wallace, and Will Adams (Boys Quartet) finished in second place. Fourth place finishers were Isaac Power in Boys Essay and Robert West in Boys Extemporaneous Speaking. Also competing for the Prince Avenue team were Clare Looney in Girls Essay and Rebecca Hathaway in Girls Dramatic Interpretation.
First and second place winners advance to the state competition, and Prince Avenue will have the opportunity to bring home some additional awards at that level. “I am very proud of each of our competitors,” said Fine Arts Director LaMurl Morris. “They have all worked very hard to prepare for this competition, and the results were rewarding. This team of students really excelled this year, and have given us a great foundation for future competitions.”
