Baldwin Named STAR Student
Senior Ella Baldwin has been named the 2024 STAR Student for Prince Avenue Christian School, scoring the highest in one sitting of the SAT test for the senior class. Ella selected high school math teacher Katie Gilbert as her STAR Teacher.
Ella is the daughter of Suzanne and Tony Baldwin and has attended Prince for four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Interact Club, and National Art Honor Society. Ella has been recognized as a Wolverine Academian for having the highest grade point average in her class her freshman and junior year and the second highest average her sophomore year. Ella is on the Academic Team and has played on the Varsity Soccer team and run on the Varsity Cross Country team.
Ella has worked as a research lab intern with the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. She also volunteers with Young Life and with Extra Special People where she has been an after-school counselor, camp counselor, and intern in Miracle League, music therapy, and family events support. Ella attends Athens Church.
Ella explains that she chose Mrs. Gilbert as her STAR teacher because Mrs. Gilbert is supportive and encouraging. “She has guided me as I have navigated college decisions and school life. I have her to thank for my love of math and am incredibly grateful for the three years she has been my teacher.”
Mrs. Gilbert has been teaching high school math at Prince for 12 years and explains that Ella is a well-rounded student who is a great addition to any classroom. “Ella has maintained her high academic goals while being involved in many areas of student life. She is a diligent worker, and her conscientiousness is contagious making her a joy to be around.”
Ella plans to attend Sewanee: The University of the South where she will double major in biochemistry and art.
