Scholarship Resources

Scholarships and financial aid … the part of the college application process that gets a bad rap. We are here with quick breakdown & some resources specifically for your scholarship search.

There are multiple types of financial aid– federal/state aid, institutional aid, and private scholarships.

1. Federal/State aid are administered by the government. (includes loans, grants, work-study programs and the HOPE & Zell Miller Scholarships via the FAFSA and GSFC)
2. Institutional aid includes merit & needs based scholarships from specific colleges (can be viewed on the specific college’s financial aid website)
3. Private scholarships are provided by nonprofits, religious organizations and local employers.

The scholarship search can feel overwhelming, but if you are willing to put in the work it will pay off. 😉 So in an effort to help we have created the PACS Scholarship Directory. This spreadsheet includes both national and local scholarships with various requirements & deadlines. It will be updated regularly by the counseling office as we receive information regarding changes and new scholarships.

A few tips on the scholarship search:

• Be organized (Check out this Scholarship Tracker Tool–once you click on the file, download a copy so you can edit for personal use)
• Start early–even if you aren’t eligible to apply it is helpful to know what opportunities are out there & what the requirements are
• Commit–carve out 30 minutes/week to browse scholarships and apply
• Don’t sleep on “small scholarships”– they all add up!
