Technology Program Questions and Answers
Prince Avenue Christian School director of technology Kendall Eley has created a questions and answer webpage to address questions parents and students may have about the technology and iPad program expansion planned for next year.
The webpage may be accessed by clicking HERE.
Head of School Danny Howell sent the following message to parents about the technology program:
Prince Avenue’s Technology Director Mr. Kendall Eley has made a compelling case:
Technology in education is NOT our FUTURE.
Instead, teaching and learning through technology is our PRESENT.
And it is time for Prince Avenue Christian School to take the next step, and commit to a college preparation plan that fully embraces the opportunities that technology offers.
We have a great start…SMART boards and interactive white boards are already in many of our elementary, middle and high school classrooms.
Many of our middle and high school teachers give assignments that are to be completed or submitted online. Our fine arts department uses technology to teach and assess music progress.
And our iPad pilot program has demonstrated tremendous opportunities for our students to learn, and our teachers to teach, in ways that engage the imagination and stimulate interests of our students.
Beginning in the fall of the 2012-13 school year, Prince Avenue Christian School will begin a transition to an educational program enhanced by contemporary tools of technology. The iPad program will be instituted throughout our high school, with all high school students and teachers issued iPads through a 3-year lease program. All high school students (9th – 12th grades) will be charged an annual technology fee, expected to be between $275-$300 a year, beginning this fall. The fee can be paid in full in August, or in monthly installments of between $27 – $30 from August – May. (The final fee will be determined when the iPad lease agreement is completed.)
The high school technology fee includes:
- iPad (lease)
- Insurance ($100 deductible)
- Mobile Device Management
- Teacher Training, and
- Spare Devices
We are very excited about advancing in this direction, and we know that this is just the beginning. We hope to expand the program to our middle school and elementary students in the very near future. If you were unable to come to the technology meeting on Monday night, you can review Mr. Eley’s presentation by clicking on the link below.
If you have questions about the implementation of this iPad program, please email Mr. Eley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for your support of Prince Avenue Christian School.
