PACS Band Students Attend Special Events
The PACS Band students under the leadership of Band Director Miles Adams have been busy representing PACS Fine Arts at special events.
Five PACS Middle School Advanced Band students earned membership in the District Honor Band after their auditions for the Georgia Music Educators Association District and All-State Band. This number of students is the most that PACS has ever had qualify for District Honor Band.
The students that will be attending District Honor Band are: Nate Aldin on the clarinet, Shannon Lee on the saxophone, Jack Johnston on the trumpet, Caleb Land on the trombone, and Danny Lee on the euphonium. In addition, Nate, Caleb, and Danny’s scores were high enough to advance to the state level and audition for the Georgia All-State Band in January.
Another special event attended by PACS Band students was the Georgia Association of Jazz Educators State Jazz Clinic. Five PACS Advanced Band students performed in the event held at Valdosta State University. The students who participated in this exciting event were Jared Gilstrap on the tumpet, Brad Bennett on the drums, Seth Lashley on the trumpet, and Madeline Jackson on the saxophone.
The State Jazz Clinic students were assigned to one of five jazz bands comprised of the most outstanding high school jazz musicians from throughout the state. The bands were directed by some of the Georgia’s best high school and college jazz directors. In addition, the students attended a concert given by the Valdosta State University Jazz Band and a master-class presented by professional jazz saxophonist Don Braden. The entire event concluded with a concert performance by all five student bands.
PACS Band students continue to represent PACS throughout the state with their talents while also further developing their personal skills.
