Tickets for PACS Performance of Les Misèrables on Sale Now
The Prince Avenue Christian School Fine Arts Department will present Les Misèrables (School Edition) on Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27 at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, March 28 at 2:00 pm. All performances will be at the Seney-Stovall Auditorium on North Milledge Avenue in Athens.
PACS Drama teacher, Joe Strickland says the cast began working on Les Misèrables in August and has been working toward the opening performance ever since. “By the time the show opens, PACS Drama students will have logged over 450 hours of rehearsal. The cast is excited and has been dedicated to presenting a quality performance that is sure to delight the audience.”
When asked about the most challenging aspect of a production the size of Les Misèrables, Mr. Strickland explains that the entire show is written to music, requiring that the actors be precise in their vocal music while still maintaining emotional honesty in their acting. Mr. Strickland highlights that although his students enjoy the community that performing together offers, they are even more motivated to communicate the message of the play. “The actors are driven by the desire to tell a powerful story that will impact the audience.”
Mr. Strickland expresses excitement for the Prince Avenue community to experience the power of one of Broadway's most successful and entertaining musicals. “The show truly examines the heart of redemption. The redemptive power of the Gospel and the effect it can have on a man's life and the world around him is the core element of the story that Victor Hugo wrote two centuries ago.”
PACS Drama students performing the principal roles in Les Misèrables are Josh Whalen as Jean Valjean, Luke Wallace as Inspector Javert, Macy Frazier as Fantine, Isabelle Renn as Cosette, Rachel Adams as Eponine, Alex Harding as Marius, Will Adams as Enjolras, Will Douglas as Monsieur Thenardier, and Joy Harris as Madame Thenardier.
