Books for Keeps Sponsored by Mrs. Foster’s 1st Grade Class
Prince Avenue Christian School First Grade students in Shona Foster’s class are sponsoring Books for Keeps as their outreach project for this year. PACS students are collecting gently used and new books to be donated through Books for Keeps to children from low-income families in grades Pre-K through 12 in the Athens area.
Since 2009, Books for Keeps (BFK) has given more than 138,000 books to children in need. For 11 months of the year, the organization collects, inspects, sorts, and boxes books in order to give them all away each May. Books that cannot be used are sold at the annual BFK Book Sale each August.
PACS students and families can help in several ways:
· Between now and Friday, April 24th, please donate new or gently used books for our Books for Keeps book drive. You can drop off in the office in the red bin or Mrs. Foster's classroom in Cottage B.
· Contact Terri Henderson at henderson6264@bellsouth.net if you can be a driver/delivery person. Volunteers are needed to pick up the books from Mrs. Foster's room and take them to the BFK warehouse.
· Check the Book for Keeps website at http://booksforkeeps.org/ to learn more about how to help and/or to sign up to help distribute books in May. It is like Christmas in May to the kids – a very rewarding experience.
Take a moment to clean out your bookshelves or purchase a new book in support of this ministry project!
