Lower School Students Recognized at Honors Day
Prince Avenue Christian School held the annual Lower School Honor’s Day in which students were recognized for their achievements in many different areas during the 2014-2015 school year.
The program began with a presentation from the fourth grade class. These students learned all of the books of the Bible in a fun and creative song. Students enthusiastically shared this song with the Lower School and PACS parents.
Students recognized for their participation in the ACSI Spelling Bee were 1st Grade: Grace Morgan, Bowden Dubose, Brooks David, Bella Rosenthal; 2nd Grade: Addison Bowman, Jaden Hill, Jack Whalen, Lily Purcell; 3rd Grade: John Lee, Joy Li, Raegan Naeher, Thomas Bruce; 4th Grade: Savannah Carter, Mason Goodyear, Nina Killian, Charlie Frierson; 5th Grade: Noah Stowell, Widener Norris, Chase Whalen, Barnabas Li.
Students recognized for their participation in the ACSI Math Olympics were 3rd Grade: Leila Todd, Joy Li, John Lee, Ethan Thomas, Siler Elvington, Elisabeth Breedlove; 4th Grade: Charlie Frierson, Kaylor Jones, Daniel, Bell, Evan Webb, Josh Ellard, Wade David; 5th Grade: Alex Fetzer, Georgia Nunn, Caleb Wilson, Barnabas Li.
Students recognized for their participation in the ACSI Geography Bee were 3rd Grade: Thomas Bruce, Cali Burgess, Sarah Cochran, Leila Todd; 4th Grade: Gracie Chochran, Joash Ellard, Steven Durocher, Savannah Pickett; 5th Grade: Dane Boswell, Seth Jernigan, Davis Wood.
Drama students recognized by Lower School Drama Club Director Sharon Carter for their achievements in Little Prince Players were Dane Boswell, Delanie Case, Rinne Furlow, Braelin, Hagen, and Katie Weems.
Piano Awards were presented by piano teacher Sharon Reid for the students who participated in the ACSI Piano Festival. Those students were: Steven Durocher, Chloe Meeler, McKenzie Paul, Porter Ward, Evan Webb, Kaitlyn Ward, Nina Killian, and Abby Weaver.
Band teacher Miles Adams presented awards to 5th Grade students for their accomplishments in Beginning Band. Those students were: Sam Camean, Alex Fetzer, Will Frost, Braelin Hagen, Jake Hathaway, Erin McNeely, Sarah McNeely, Abby Weaver, Jackson Tarpley, and Widener Norris.
Physical Education Awards were presented by Lower School PE Coach Jill Machovec. The Wolverine Determination Award went to Sarah Frances Stertzbach, Owen Florence, Brody Conner, Kahmara Lucas, Naomi Gowder, Jenna Hewatt, John Lee, Davis Eley, Marrisol Schroth, Gracie Wilfong, Rett Sams, Georgia Nunn, and Hudson Tolbert.
The Matthew 7:12 (Sportsmanship Award) went to Kylee Simmons, William Henderson, Emma Grace Henson, Brody Rogers, Sam Carty, Brock McDonald, Olivia Warren, Charlie Wilfong, Lauren Black, and Hunter Smith.
PE Excellence Awards were presented to Kate Bobo, Peter Sposato, Hudson Hill, Porter Wood, Niyla Kinney, Gaines Scoggins, Kylie Wilson, Blaine Pittman, Ella Norris, Evan Ivester, Anna Christiansen, and Davis Wood.
Prince Avenue Christian School uses the Accelerated Reader Program to enhance students’ reading skills. Students read a book, take a computerized quiz, and get instant feedback about their progress. The program keeps track of the number of books read by a point system. The students recognized for their participation in the Accelerated Reading Program were:
