Rob Kraeling to Participate in Semper Fidelis All American Bowl
Last week, senior Robert Kraeling stood before the Prince Avenue high school student body and received recognition from the United States Marine Corps for his selection to participate in the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl.
During the ceremony, Rob had the opportunity to address his fellow classmates, and he expressed that he feels honored to have been selected to play in the All American Bowl. He thanked his teachers, coaches, parents and brother for their support as he has gone through the college football recruiting process, as he has developed as an athlete, and as he has grown in his own personal character.
Prince Head of School Col. Seth Hathaway explains that Rob's recognition by the Marine Corps is an honor for all involved. “Robert’s selection to participate in the Marine Corps All American Bowl is an honor for him, his family, our school, and yes, the United States Marine Corps as well.”
As a retired Marine himself, Col. Hathaway is intimately familiar with the leadership traits of the Marine Corps. “Of these 14 traits, integrity, dedication, enthusiasm and unselfishness are ones that I would use to describe Robert.” Col. Hathaway goes on to say, “The Marines will expect much from Robert at The All American Bowl, and I am confident he will meet or exceed their expectations.”
Col. Hathaway is also excited about the opportunity Rob will have to reflect Christ during his time in the All American Bowl. “I believe Robert's demonstration of Christ-like character will bring honor to our Lord, his family, and our school due to how he plays the game. In 2 Timothy 2:5 we are reminded, 'An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.' ”
Rob himself expressed humility and gratitude during his recognition ceremony. In addressing the student body he challenged his peers. “The way I have been raised in life is that nothing is given to you. Nothing is just handed to you; you’re not entitled to anything. You have to work for it.”
In January, Rob will travel to California along with other players from across the nation to participate in the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl. The game will be January 3rd and will be aired live nationally on
FoxSports 1.
