John Morgan McDonald Selected as Swim Team Delegate
Prince Avenue Christian School junior, John Morgan McDonald, has been selected as a Team Delegate for the 2016-2017 season to represent the Athens Bulldog Swim Club as a part of the USA Swimming Governing Body.
The selection of a student delegate is a prestigious honor for John Morgan who represents not only the ABSC team at Local Swimming Committee meetings, but can also impact over 2,800 swim clubs. His duties as a delegate include such items as bringing forward concerns or question from other athletes, assisting in the review of time standards, and setting other rules regarding the overall sport of swimming. The delegates are nominated by their team coaches and ultimately serve two years as both a junior and senior delegate.
When asked about the nomination to serve, John Morgan stated, “It is very much an honor to serve as a delegate. Being a part of the governing body is a humbling responsibility. I look forward to learning more and being a part of the group that helps drive the future of swimming all the way to the Olympic level.”
A leader on the PACS swim team, John Morgan holds five swim records at PACS and has broken many county records as well. He most recently placed 9th in the 500 Freestyle and 11th in the Butterfly at the GHSA State Swim Meet Championships.
