6th Annual PACS Empty Bowls Auction Raises Money for Homeless Shelter

The Prince Avenue National Art Honor Society's 6th Annual Empty Bowls silent auction was held Friday, January 26th.  PACS high school NAHS members, along with faculty members, created 42 beautiful handmade pottery bowls and filled the bowls with goods.  A variety of themes were presented such as coffee, edible goodies, basketball training coupons, handmade jewelry, and small potted plants.

All proceeds from the auction will go directly to A Bigger Vision, a local Athens-area homeless shelter. PACS NAHS has donated $10,000 to A Bigger Vision over the past five years, and because of the generosity of the PACS community, this year’s auction raised approximately $2400 to add to that total.  Students will present the money to A Bigger Vision on a Monday night when they will participate in serving a meal to the residents.  

PACS High School Visual Arts teacher Meghan Hudson is the organizer of Empty Bowls at PACS and sees the program as an opportunity for PACS students to use their talents to benefit others and glorify God.  “We are excited for this opportunity each year.  Serving meals at the shelter helps us to see why Empty Bowls is so important to our community.  This project helps our students experience first-hand creative ways to help others with their talents.”
