Emma Taylor Selected as Rotary Student of the Semester
Senior Emma Taylor was named Prince Avenue Christian School's Rotary Student of the Semester selected by teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self.” The daughter of Joe and Hayley Taylor, Emma has attended Prince Avenue for 14 years.
Emma chose high school Guidance Counselor Lisa Ricketts to share this honor with her at a Rotary Club breakfast. Emma says she chose Mrs. Ricketts because of her consistent effort to put others’ needs first, whether educational or spiritual. “I want to be better just by seeing the example that Mrs. Ricketts sets in being a wholehearted follower of Christ. Her character and overall being speaks volumes of Philippians 2:3 which says, ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit. Rather in humility count others more significant than yourselves.’ Her spiritual guidance and prayers for me and with me have encouraged me greatly, and it is something that I will carry with me after high school.”
Emma is active in the Interact Club and currently serves as Beta Club President. She was selected by her peers as Homecoming Representative all four years and was voted Miss PACS her senior year. Emma has also been active in Prince Athletics having played volleyball, tennis, cross country, and basketball. She earned the Tri-Sport Athlete Award, received the Vincent J. Dooley ‘Athletes for a Better World” Award, and was given the DAR Good Citizen Award. Emma attends Watkinsville First Baptist Church and volunteers in Vacation Bible School. She has also volunteered at the Sparrow’s Nest, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, and Operation Christmas Child.
Emma describes Prince Avenue as a unique place where students are able to form relationships with one another and with their teachers because of the small environment. “ The school has helped me in my personal walk with the Lord because of the numerous outlets that allow me to practice my own faith such as service projects, chapel services, Bible class in which we learn the Bible’s contents, learn about other religions, and learn to defend our faith and know why we believe what we believe.”
Emma plans to attend the University of North Georgia and study Art and Design.
