Carithers and Simpson Recognized for Years of Service at Prince
Two Prince Avenue Christian School staff members were honored at this year’s Recognition Ceremony for their years of service at Prince.
Lesia Carithers currently serves as the Food Service Coordinator at Prince and was recognized for 20 years of service. After serving for four years in food service preparation, Lesia was promoted to her current position. Over the course of her service to Prince’s family-school community, she has helped plan, order, and prepare over 9,000 delicious meals for students, faculty, staff, and parents alike.
Also recognized was Nancy Simpson who currently serves as the Prince Librarian and Barnabas Mentor Program Coordinator. Nancy has worked for Prince Avenue for 25 years in a number of different positions including teaching American and British Literature, but her main focus has been the Media Center and the Barnabas Program. During the school’s transition from the old campus in downtown Athens to its present location in Bogart, Mrs. Simpson was instrumental in the planning and outfitting of the school’s media center, which now has over 20,000 books. Mrs. Simpson’s passion and leadership of the school’s Barnabas Mentor Program is well known and respected by her colleagues, parents, and students alike. Barnabas, which translated means “son of encouragement”, provides a platform for students who are sophomores, juniors, and seniors to learn about service by encouraging and mentoring students in the lower school. Mrs. Simpson has been the coordinator of this important program for the past nine years, which this year had 89 lower and middle school students and 26 upper school mentors.
