Five Prince Seniors Sign to Play College Sports

Five Prince Avenue seniors signed this week to play their respective sports at the college level.

Hope Hewatt signed to play golf at Truett McConnell College. Prince Avenue Coach Elizabeth Barry says the Prince program will miss Hope’s talent and leadership on the team. “Hope is a hard-working young athlete with such a positive attitude who has overcome adversity in order to fulfill her dream of competing at the next level. It has been a joy to be a part of her journey.”

Madison Britt signed to play soccer at Georgia College and State University. Prince Coach Michael Palmer explains that Madison has helped advance the Prince soccer program. “Our Prince Girls’ Soccer program has become better through Madison Britt’s leadership but also her humility. ” Palmer also explains that Madison encompasses much more as an athlete. “I’m proud to be her coach because she embraces what all coaches want in their sports programs. A scholar in the classroom with a 4.2 GPA, an absolute warrior on the field, 4-year starter and 2-year captain in soccer, an FCA leader as well as an active Barnabas mentor. From the first practice to the last prayer of the season, I count it as a blessing that she’s a Wolverine.”

Head Coach Phil Roberts coached both softball and baseball this year and had the privilege of coaching three of the students that signed. Janie Henderson signed to play Softball at the University of North Georgia. Coach Roberts explains that Janie has natural athletic qualities that are difficult to teach. “Janie is an incredible athlete that has a bright future. She’s coachable and versatile as a softball player. The University of North Georgia is fortunate to sign her. Her family has been a blessing to Prince Avenue for many years.”

Thomas Ross signed to play baseball at Western Kentucky University. Coach Roberts says that Thomas is one of the hardest working kids in his program. “Thomas had a great year for us last Spring and worked hard all summer to earn Division I scholarship. His family has been committed to the Prince baseball program for several years, and we wouldn’t be as strong without their help and support.”

Murphy Healan signed to play baseball at Erskine College. Coach Roberts describes Murphy as extremely disciplined. “Murphy has a bright future at Erskine within their academic field and baseball program. His family has always been supportive of Prince baseball.”

Congratulations to these students for their hard work and dedication both in the classroom and in athletics.
