Abby Frost Chosen as Rotary Student of the Semester
Senior Abby Frost was named the first semester Prince Avenue Christian School's Rotary Student of the Semester selected by teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self.”
Abby is the daughter of Jerry and Justin Frost and has attended Prince Avenue for five years. She chose high school math teacher Katie Gilbert to share this honor with her at a Rotary Club breakfast. Abby says choosing just one teacher was difficult because all of her teachers have influenced her positively, but Mrs. Gilbert has gone to a special effort to help Abby in several areas of her life. “Mrs. Gilbert has taught me math for three years, and every year I enjoyed learning something new from her. She encourages me by sharing the experience of farming. Our school is primarily not agriculturally connected, but agriculture has always been a large part of my life. It was refreshing to find a person who was able to share in that experience and who was able to understand the terms I used when talking about farming.”
Abby has consistently performed at the top of her class in high school. She is a Phi Kappa Phi student, Georgia Certificate of Merit Scholar, Beta Club Member, National Honor’s Society member, and a chapter, district, and state level Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Winner. Abby has been heavily involved in Fine Arts at Prince as well as with the Future Farmers of America showing cows since she was in the 5th grade. Abby spends her time outside of school working on her family’s multigenerational cattle farm. Abby attends Whistleville Christian Church where she volunteers in the nursery and Sunday School. Abby has also used her Fine Arts skills on the Prince Fine Arts mission trip to Estonia.
Abby says that the highlight of her time at Prince has been her relationships with her teachers. “I really enjoy that the teachers are able to have such an impact on our lives. They are not just teachers; they are mentors. There are always people ready to help me with anything, and that means so much to me.”
Abby’s teacher representative, Katie Gilbert, describes Abby as a very special student. “Abby Frost is one of the top students in the senior class in terms of academics and one of the most dedicated and successful students in our Fine Arts department, but it is not these accomplishments that define Abby. Abby’s legacy at Prince will be her servant’s heart. Abby is one who is always willing to help others, putting other people’s needs before her own.”
Abby plans to attend Auburn University where she will major in Chemical Engineering.
