Prince Middle School Girls Win Area Basketball Championship

After a 16-2 season, the Prince Avenue Middle School Lady Wolverines won the Athens Area Middle School Basketball Championship.  The girls defeated Athens Academy in a close 30 – 28 overtime victory with a team that is comprised of all 6th and 7th graders.   This is the 6th middle school girls championship for Prince Avenue basketball. 

The team was coached by Head Coach Michael Palmer and his assistant coach Baylee Rogers, a 2017 Prince alumna.  “It was truly a season to remember”, says Coach Palmer.  “We won a championship when Baylee was a player and now one with her coaching with me.  Coming full circle was the best part of it for me.”

Coach Palmer emphasizes that many months of hard work went into this season’s success.  “You don’t eat the fruit the day you plant the seeds.  We started in June with practices, games, and open gyms.  We had lots of highs and lows over the season, but it culminated in our girls coming together and winning a championship.”
