Prince Students Receive Shuler Awards Nominations
Three Prince Avenue Fine Arts high school students have been nominated for the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards also known as the Shuler Awards. Junior Riley Wilson was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress for her role as Sandra in Big Fish. Junior Jack Johnston was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor for his role as Edward Bloom in Big Fish. Junior Thompson Sewell was nominated for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor for his role as Will in Big Fish, and sophomore Walker Johnson received Honorable Mention for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor for his role as Karl the Giant in Big Fish.
Seventy-five schools from throughout Georgia participate in the adjudication process for the Shuler Awards. Six schools are nominated per category for each award. There are five major categories for awards with Prince receiving nominations in three of the five.
Prince students will receive additional recognition at the Shuler Awards. Jack Johnston received The College Audition Scholarship. Walker Johnson and junior Emilie David will participate in the Shuler Ensemble during the awards ceremony. As Leading Actress and Actor nominees, Riley Wilson and Jack Johnston will perform part of one of their solos during the ceremony.
The Shuler Awards will be broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting on Thursday, April 18th at 8:00 pm. Prince families and friends can tune in and support Prince Fine Arts.
