Among the many co-curricular activities and opportunities for Prince Avenue students is a team like no other! The PACS Writing Team for 4th-6th graders meets twice a week and is coached by Media Specialist Danny Delgado.
This semester, Mr. Delgado has brought in Prince alumna and children’s author Mez Blume (‘06) to lead the writers in a writer’s masterclass. Mez covers a multitude of writing topics such as journaling, drafting, editing, revising, peer-reviewing, and conferencing. Ultimately, students will gain the experience of publishing their work.
Currently, students are working on a narrative story that will be submitted for adjudication in the Association of Christian School International Creative Writing Festival. In addition, the team will compile and publish an anthology of all of their stories which will be added to the PACS Media Center book collection.
Mez explains that she has been quite impressed with the Prince Writers. “I have thrown all manner of new ideas and exercises at them, some quite advanced, and they have taken on every bit of it. That tells me that there is some strong author potential at PACS.”
