Prince Band Students Receive Honor Band and All-State Recognition
Students in Prince Bands recently participated in district honor band and all-state auditions. Congratulations to the following students on their excellence in Fine Arts:
Middle School District Honor Band
The Prince Avenue Bands were recently represented by 8th-graders Carly Land and Caleb Murray at the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) District 14 Middle School Honor Band held at Riverside Military Academy. Students from the northeast Georgia district rehearsed brand new music on the first day and performed a concert the following day. Both Carly and Caleb were designated as “first chair” in their respective instruments, meaning they were chosen as the best of all of those that participated in the audition.
Carly Land Named as an Alternate to the 2022 Georgia All-State Band
Carly Land was named as an alternate to the GMEA All-State Band by virtue of a state-wide audition held in January. This places Carly as one of the top 10 euphonium performers in the state.
High School District Honor Band
Congratulations to freshman Jenifer Dunn, sophomore Andrew Gilmore, and freshman Meredith Hale for being selected as members of the GMEA District 14 High School Honor Band. They represented Prince in the honor band weekend held in Jefferson, Georgia. Students worked with acclaimed clinicians from around the state to perform a fantastic concert for an enthusiastic audience. These students were selected by virtue of a blind audition held this past December.
