Prince Track and Field Teams Compete in State Meet
After finishing second in region, the Prince Avenue Christian School Varsity Girls and Boys Track and Field Teams are competing in the GHSA State Track Championships at Barron Stadium in Rome May 11th – 13th.
The Wolverines have fourteen competitors who qualified for events (meaning they are in the top 16 for their events in the state). The runners also have four boys and four girls relay teams who have qualified for state competition.
The Prince student body gathered along Prince Avenue for a team send-off Thursday morning as the Wolverines loaded the bus headed for Rome.
Congratulations to these athletes for a fantastic season leading up to state!
The following list highlights the accomplishments of this year’s competitors going into the state meet:
High Jump:
Robert Skaggs – Robert broke the school record of 6’0 with a jump of 6’4.
Sydney Pettus – Sydney is the first girl from Prince to qualify for state in the high jump.
Shot Put:
Christian Garrett has the number two throw in the state and the school record with a throw of 49-8.5.
Disc:
Emily Lalaian is third seed in state with a school record throw of 108-7.
Christian Garrett also made it in the disc with a school record throw of 134 feet.
Distance Runners:
Kaitlyn Ward – 800 Meter
Kinsley Bowen – 1600 Meter
Ashlyn Smith – 3200 Meter
Robert Skaggs – 800 Meter
Lawson Waye – 1600 Meter and 3200 Meter
Owen Florence – 3200 Meter
Sprinters:
Audrey Vandagriff – 100 Meter (12.02 school record and first going into state) and 200 Meter (25.61 school record)
Aidan Washington – 300 Meter Hurdles (49.3 school record)
Luke Darling – 100 Meter
Josh Britt – 400 Meter
Relays: Girls
4×100 Meter – Audrey Vandagriff, Maggie Ross, Dachelle Lucas, Aidan Washington
4×200 Meter – Audrey Vandagriff, Maggie Ross, Dachelle Lucas, Aidan Washington
