Jernigan Honored with Servant’s Heart Award

Prince Avenue Christian School recognizes the important role that our competent and qualified staff plays in our school community.  Through the support of a generous donor, Prince honors one member of the staff each year with the Servant’s Heart Award.

Using an acronym for the word HEART, the recipient of this award is acknowledged for his or her humility, encouragement, authenticity, responsibility, and trustworthiness.  This year’s Servant’s Heart Award was given to Jan Jernigan who has worked as an assistant in the Prince Business Office since 2015.

Jan’s duties include processing accounts payable, acting as FACTS customer liaison, bookkeeping, and managing account reconciliations and banking responsibilities.  It is likely that most Prince families have needed her assistance in one of these areas.

Jan is described by her peers as humble, trustworthy, and authentic, always willing to lend an extra hand to a team member in need.  One co-worker explains, “Dealing with all things financial for the school, Jan stewards that responsibility very seriously and is precise in all her duties.  She goes the extra mile to make sure it is all complete and exact. Jan is a complete delight and joy to work with!”

Jan says that working at Prince where everyone talks openly about Jesus has been a blessing.  “I am filled with gratitude that I could work on the same campus as my two boys as they grew up and graduated from Prince.  I love being able to play a small daily part in helping our amazing school staff with their Business Office needs.  I love my job, and I love Prince!”
