Culpepper Selected as Rotary Student of the Semester
Prince senior Mimi Culpepper has been selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester for Fall 2023. Mimi was chosen by Prince teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”.
Mimi is the daughter of Katherine and John Culpepper and has attended Prince for 12 years. She is in the National Honors Society, Beta Club, National Art Honor Society, and Interact Club. Mimi also serves as senior class president and plays on the varsity tennis team. Mimi volunteers as a lower school small group leader at Athens First United Methodist Church and teaches tennis to toddlers at Athens Country Club in the summer.
Mimi selected high school math teacher Katie Gilbert as her teacher representative to share in this honor. Mimi explains, “Mrs. Gilbert has been with me through every hardship I have faced as a student at Prince Avenue in and out of the classroom. She has invested in me, believed in me, and challenged me to reach my full potential. She has also instilled in me her love of math that I will pursue further in college. Overall, Mrs. Gilbert has had a lasting impact on me that I will carry to college and into the world.”
Mrs. Gilbert describes Mimi as a diligent and conscientious student. “Mimi is one of those students who will not stop working a math problem until she has come to the correct solution. She challenges herself each day to work to the best of her ability and to learn something new.” Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Gilbert emphasizes Mimi’s ability to connect with people. “Among faculty and students alike, Mimi is extremely well-respected and known to be one of the most caring and genuine students on campus.”
Mimi plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in biochemical engineering.
