Prince Announces Jon Richt as New Head Varsity Football Coach
Prince Avenue Christian School has hired Coach Jon Richt for the position of Head Varsity Football Coach. Coach Richt is a graduate of Prince (’08) and was a part of the early teams that established the school’s football program.
After graduating from Prince, Coach Richt attended Clemson and Mars Hill Universities and was a member of their football teams. During his senior year at Mars Hill, he set several school records in completions, attempts, yards, and touchdown passes as the team’s quarterback.
Coach Richt started his coaching career as a quality control assistant with the University of Georgia before joining the National Football League’s New York Buffalo Bills. Following his time with the Bills, he served three years as the quarterbacks coach for the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Coach Richt has served as the Prince offensive coordinator for the past three years and has been integral to the program’s success led by Coach Greg Vandagriff including three state championships (five appearances), six region championships, and an overall record of 107 wins and 15 losses.
Athletic Director Richard Ricketts explains that Richt will be a good fit for the head coaching position at Prince. “We are confident Coach Richt’s extensive experience, passion for football, spiritual maturity, and deep-rooted connection to Prince will inspire our student-athletes to achieve new heights as we transition to an exciting new chapter for our football program.”
