Eligibility & Application Process
Prince Avenue Christian School is pleased to announce that through the faithful generosity of friends and alumni, the scholarships listed below are available for the 2024-2025 school year. Applications are available on the PACS website. For most scholarships, there are fillable cover sheets as well as the requirement to submit additional information such as an essay or tax return information. Only students who are re-enrolled for the following school year will be considered for a scholarship.
The deadline for scholarship applications is Wednesday, April 10th.
Applications can be turned in by mail (post marked by April 10th) or by email to Kim Brannon at knbrannon@princeave.org.

Gail McCall Reading Scholarship
We will not hide them from their descendants, we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord. Psalm 78:4
This scholarship was established to honor Gail McCall.
For over 20 years, Gail McCall taught 1st-grade at Prince Avenue Christian School and imparted her love of learning to our youngest Wolverines. Gail has a passion for teaching reading as a foundational building block to education.
Gail McCall has been a lifelong supporter of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and Prince Avenue Christian School. Gail and her husband, Dr. John McCall, have two alumni daughters: Christy McCall (’86) and Sharon Carter (’95).
Every student in good standing in Kindergarten through 5th-grade is eligible to apply for this scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Gail McCall Reading Scholarship Committee and will be awarded annually. Applicants must complete the assignment given on the scholarship application.

Candace Coles Todd “Climb Every Mountain” Scholarship
“How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
This scholarship was established by Prince Avenue Christian School in memory of beloved teacher Candace Coles Todd.
Every student in good standing is eligible for this scholarship, which will be awarded annually by the Candace Coles Todd Scholarship Committee.
The recipient of this award is a student that has shown a spirit of joy through trials and has persevered. Mrs. Todd, the scholarship’s honored namesake was known for her abiding faith, servant’s heart, and tenacity for overcoming adversity while serving as an inspiration to all who knew her.
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to the student who characterizes these attributes demonstrated by long-time and admired teacher, Mrs. Candy Todd.

The Dollar Family Scholarship
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
This scholarship was established by Mr. Rod Dollar and family.
Every student in good standing kindergarten through 12th is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be decided and awarded by the Rod Dollar Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will be awarded to Prince Avenue Christian School students based on their strong commitment to character and perseverance. The scholarship committee will decide each year if one or more students will be selected.
This scholarship will be awarded annually. Financial information will need to be provided with this application.

Shoff Foundation Scholarship
This full or partial tuition scholarship is eligible to students 1st through 12th grade and is decided and awarded by the Shoff Foundation Scholarship Committee. This scholarship was established by Mr. Richard Mason and family in loving memory of Mr. Sheldon T. Shoff.

Asher Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the family of Ward Asher Elrod, who was born with hydrocephalus, a condition in which the spinal fluid in the brain will not drain properly. This $2,000 annual scholarship will be awarded to a 1st through 12th-grade student in good standing, based on financial need. An application and financial information are required.

Jon Desso Scholarship
This scholarship was established to remember and honor the life of a PACS graduate from the Class of 2000, Jon Desso. A committee of Jon’s friends annually meets to decide the recipient of this scholarship. The Desso Scholarship is a 501(c)(3) organization and operates independently from Prince Avenue Christian School. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to two students in 9th – 12th grade who characterize the positive attributes of friendship. Reg Gattie Memorial Scholarship
“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all you lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing.” Psalm 100:1-2
This scholarship was established by Prince Avenue Christian School to celebrate the life of Reg Gattie. Every 9th-12th-grade student in good standing is eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded by the Reg Gattie Memorial Scholarship Committee to one student who uses their God-given musical talents to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in an extraordinary way through their leadership and Christian character. This student should plan to major or minor in music. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to further the student’s studies in the field of music.

Dr. John W. McCall, M.S., Ph.D. Science and Research Scholarship
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

This scholarship was established to honor Dr. John McCall
“I think I was born a researcher,” says John W. McCall, M.S., Ph.D., professor emeritus at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Though he taught veterinary parasitology, research has been his passion for over 50 years.
Dr. McCall has been a lifelong supporter of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and Prince Avenue Christian School. He has served on the school’s Board of Trustees numerous times over the past 43 years.
The current junior or senior PACS student who receives this award will be nominated by the high school science faculty and then chosen by the Dr. John W. McCall Scholarship Committee. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student whose gifts and interests are driven to the field of science and research.
No application is required.

William H. Ricketts Scholarship
The Ricketts Scholarship is part of the school budget and was established by Prince Avenue Christian School to honor the pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Reverend William H. Ricketts, as a part of the school’s 20th-anniversary celebration. The criteria for this $1,500 scholarship is based on the student’s commitment to his or her walk with the Lord, commitment to his or her church ministry, and desire to serve Christ in their daily life. This recipient is selected by the Ricketts family.

Megan Twist Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established to remember and honor the life of Megan Twist.
Megan was an honor graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School, Class of 2011, and a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from Georgia Southern University and made the Dean’s List several times, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Public Relations. Megan was a compassionate friend always portraying strength for others, choosing to lift them up during their trials and encouraging them with love and laughter. Megan’s life was a testimony of bringing happiness and joy into every life she touched.
The current senior who receives this award will be nominated by the high school faculty and then chosen by the Megan Twist Memorial Scholarship Committee. This $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who characterizes a spirit of friendship and faith.
No application is required.

Melissa Stokes and Michael Kirby Tyler Memorial Scholarship

The family of Melissa Stokes and Michael Kirby Tyler, to honor their memory, lovingly established this generous scholarship. The recipient of this award is a senior who will be attending the University of Georgia.
Every senior in good standing is eligible for this scholarship which will be awarded annually by the Melissa Stokes and Michael Kirby Tyler Memorial Scholarship committee.
Melissa Stokes Tyler was an energetic, hardworking, intelligent individual whose laughter was contagious. Her love for the Lord and her family was evident. Melissa’s dedication to Prince Avenue Christian School was shown daily in her desire to achieve excellence. Mike Tyler worked for State Farm Insurance Companies for 28 years with perfect attendance. He was an avid golfer and UGA football fan. Mike was a member of the First United Methodist Church, an active parent at PACS, and also served as the spotter for the PACS football team in the press box for many years.
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to the senior who plans to attend UGA and characterizes these attributes of working diligently and intelligently, expressing joy and love for the Lord, and displaying a devotion to PACS.
