College Entrance Exams

BIG NEWS……THE SAT IS CHANGING    

The College Board announced that in 2016, it will strip away the main differences between the SAT and the ACT.  The new SAT will be administered in March of 2016 and will impact the Class of 2017 and beyond. Here is quick rundown of the key changes:  

• 3 Sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, Math, and the Essay
• Essay Will be Optional
• 3-hour Length
• No Advanced Vocabulary or Sentence Completions
• Return to the 1600 Point Scale
• No Penalty for Wrong Answers

On April 16th 2014, The College Board will reveal the full structure of the new test along with example practice problems on their website www.deliveringopportunity.com.

With the SAT changing the PSAT/NMSQT® will also be redesigned and will be offered for the first time in October of 2015. 

To help students prepare, College Board has released a full-length practice PSAT/NMSQT. Paper copies of the practice exam will be mailed to your schools this summer as part of the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide, but for schools and students who want a head start, head to collegeboard.org/psatpractice to download a complete exam as well as answers and rationales.
