Lynda Goodwin Volunteer Scholarship for seniors
2023 Georgia District Pilot Foundation/Lynda Goodwin Volunteer Scholarship
Student Information:
The Georgia Pilot Foundation will award up to three $1,500 scholarships for outstanding community volunteer service to a graduating senior within the Georgia District. Students must be sponsored by a Georgia District Pilot Club. Pilot Clubs within the Georgia District that do not sponsor an Anchor Club are eligible to submit one application per Pilot Club for the Lynda Goodwin Youth Volunteer Scholarship.
Requirements – The applicant must:
1. Be a graduating senior from an accredited Georgia High School and have a
minimum of a 3.0 or B academic average.
2. Plan to attend an accredited college.
3. Live in or attend an accredited high school in the county of the Georgia District Pilot
Club sponsoring the applicant.
4. Submit a completed application to your school counselor by 9:00 am, Tuesday, January
10, 2023. Representatives of the Oconee Pilot Club will pick up from the office that day.
5. The Scholarship Committee will meet to review, make a county selection and interview
selection between Wednesday, January 11-Friday, January 20, 2023.
6. Tuesday, January 24, 2023 Postmark Deadline. The Scholarship Committee will mail
all materials.
Complete applications should include:
1. Attached application signed by student
2. 150 to 200 word Essay on the student’s volunteer experience
3. Official High School grade transcript
4. Letter of recommendation from Pilot Club nominating the applicant . The Oconee Pilot
Club will do this after the selection interview.
5. Two letters of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, clergyman,
employer, scout leader or community leader who has knowledge of the applicant’s
volunteer activities
6. Pilot Club Sponsorship Form signed by the sponsoring Pilot Club. THE OCONEE PILOT
CLUB WILL DO THIS BEFORE MAILING.
Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, room & board, or books. Scholarship payment will be mailed directly to the
applicant’s educational institution after proof of the student’s registration from their selected college is provided to the Georgia
District Treasurer. Any unused funds must be returned to the Georgia Pilot Foundation, Inc.
The student’s completed application should be in school counselor’s office by Tuesday, January 10, 2023 9:00 am
The Pilot Club President will be notified of the Lynda Goodwin Volunteer Scholarship recipients three weeks before the
2022-2023 Georgia District Convention. The scholarship recipients and their sponsoring Pilot Club will be recognized at the
Awards Luncheon at Georgia District Convention on April 1, 2023
