Faculty 2024-2025
Lower School Science Teacher
Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for a position of Lower School Science Teacher (Kindergarten through 5th grade). This is a part-time position.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function of this position is to teach kindergarten through fifth-grade students science in our dedicated science lab.

- Maintain weekly/daily lesson plans in detail to indicate adequate forethought and preparation.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences that nurture curiosity, encourage scientific thinking, and develop scientific literacy.
- Develop a rapport with students that motivates and fosters enthusiasm for learning.
- Creatively integrate technology in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to integrate science within the Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms.
- Evaluate student performance using different methods such as observation, performance-based tasks, science notebook assignments, phenomena-based assessments, lab write-ups or other standard test practices
- Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards, promoting positive interactions, and consistently addressing behaviors that are not in line with classroom and school guidelines.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors or higher degree in elementary education.
- Teaching experience preferred.

- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

SUMMARY
The primary function of this position is to assist a classroom teacher in facilitating the teaching and learning process within a traditional classroom setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work assignment
- Assist teacher with lessons and daily classroom activities
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by the teacher
- Assist the teacher in preparing materials and equipment for direct instructional activity, including locating, copying, collating, distributing and/or grouping materials to support instructional activities planned by the teacher.
- Assist with bulletin boards and decorations for instructional purposes and for special events
- Supervise students as needed

Overview:
The primary function of this position is to assist the librarian with the day-to-day operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the librarian to ensure the following areas are operating at an efficient level:
Circulation desk:
- Greet/assist patrons and volunteers
- Check-in/checkout books
- Manage desk calendar for LS classes, HS schedule, Librarian meetings, library events
- Process Holds
- Process teacher requests
Collection:
- Process new books/lost book replacements/donations
- Spring inventory
- Weeding books from collection
- Run report for “lost” books
- Contact families via FACTS for overdue books
- Email business office/families via FACTS to charge family accounts for lost or damaged books
Barnabas:
- Mark attendance in FACTS
- Monitor students’ sign-in and movement
- Monitor key fob inventory
- Monitor phone caddy
Other duties:
- Fill-in for Librarian if a sub is not available
- Monitor office supply/library supply needs
- Re-stock bookmarks bi-weekly
- Print weekly volunteer schedule for circulation desk and office
- Manage/update binder in circulation desk and Librarian’s desk
- Manage/update library sub binder

Job Title: Bus Driver Daily Route AM and PM
Direct Supervisor: Director of Transportation
SUMMARY
The primary focus of this position is to drive a daily bus route, both before school and after school to pick up students at pre-determined locations and then to return them to the same locations after
school, approximately 180 days per school year.

• Follow all Georgia state laws that pertain to driving and operating a school bus
• Clean interior of bus daily, maintaining a clean and healthy environment
• Report all issues with the vehicle performance directly to Transportation Director each trip

IDENTIFICATION:
Job Title: After School Program Counselor
Direct Supervision: Lower School Principal or Head of School
Scope of Work: Coincides with School Calendar
SUMMARY:
An After School Program counselor is responsible for assisting the program Director as deemed necessary and appropriate in supervising and interacting with students attending the program on any given day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The hours of operation of the program are 2:45-6:00 on normal release school days and 11:15-6:00 on early release school days. Counselors are expected to arrive no less than 15 minutes before the start time each day that they work, unless given permission to arrive later by the Director.
- Assist the Director in setting up the area(s) to be used prior to the students arriving for the program. Verify that all resources needed for the program have been reserved through the campus-wide calendaring program.
- Promote a safe and healthy environment for program participants.
- Assist as requested with the cleaning and/or disinfecting of supplies, equipment and high touch surface areas each day.
- Participate equitably in managing the “closing shift” of the program schedule on a rotational basis as scheduled by the Director. (Closing shift is 5:30-6:00 PM.)
- When serving on the closing shift, verify that all equipment and supplies have been properly stored, floors have been swept if needed, lights have been turned off, and doors have been locked.
- Assist as instructed in maintaining accurate and organized attendance records.
- Report and document immediately any and all student injuries or incidents to the program Director or acting Director.
- Document accident or injury events to which you were the closest witnessing supervisor by promptly completing and submitting an official Student Accident Report (found in the Program Operations Manual).
- Ensure that parents are notified as soon as is feasible of any accidents or injuries a child sustains.
- Maintain superior communication with parents and other school staff.

Staff - Ongoing Availability
OVERVIEW: In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages students’ progress, and manages the learning environment in accordance with the goals and directives of the school.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures consistency and encourages student participation
- Maintain a well-managed classroom that fosters a safe and positive teaching and learning environment
- Assign classwork and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans
- Ensure adequate supervision of students
- If necessary, supervise students in areas outside of the classroom (chapel, cafeteria, playground, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- A committed Christian who is active in an evangelical church ministry
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with faculty/staff and students
- Strong command of the English language
- Must successfully complete a background check
