Director of Spiritual Life

Position Description:

The director of spiritual life is an administrative and teaching position that serves to oversee the spiritual life of the school. In this capacity, this person serves as an advisor to the head of school on all spiritual matters, provides spiritual guidance to the student body, leads all school-parent interface on spiritual matters, and ministers to the school’s faculty and staff.

SUMMARY:

Prince Avenue Christian School (PACS) is a ministry of Prince Avenue Baptist Church (PABC), and the Director of Spiritual Life’s conduct reflects on the church and school. Therefore, the Director of Spiritual Life agrees to be an active member of PABC, be under the authority of the Head of School, and abide by the school’s Christian Life Commitment Statement, Biblical Morality Statement, Statement of Beliefs, and policies thereof.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Spiritual Life agrees to perform the professional services and duties of a teacher and staff member of PACS faithfully and satisfactorily as directed by the Head of School to include:

 

Spiritual Leadership Duties -

  • Join and remain an active member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church while employed by Prince Avenue Christian School.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the Head of School in a Christ-like manner.
  • Keep Christ before the students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Fully comply with the philosophy and policies of PACS.
  • Minister to the students spiritually and socially.
  • Lead and manage the high school chapel program.
  • Lead and manage the Christian Character Development Program.
  • Lead and manage high school single day/overnight spiritual retreats.
  • Coordinate with the high school principal, faculty service club advisors, and athletic director/team coaches to identify and assist in coordinating outreach ministry opportunities for students.
  • Plan, organize, and lead the annual senior class international missions trip.
  • Implement an annual, school-wide spiritual theme to unite the campus.
  • Provide vision and leadership to the Bible department teachers in scheduling twice a week morning devotions, and provide devotions at special events as directed by the Head of School.
  • Provide vision and leadership for the middle and lower school chapel programs which are led by other faculty/staff members.
  • Provide vision and leadership for the middle and lower school retreats that are led by other faculty/staff members.

 

Administrative/Academic Duties -

  • Maintain (or achieve) ACSI Teacher Certification
  • Serve as the Bible Department Head and teach Bible classes.
  • Coordinate with the Academic Dean and oversee the K-12 Bible curriculum for the school including updates to Curricuplan.
  • As the head of the Bible Department, ensure all middle and high school Bible teachers input their lesson plans and homework assignment into the School Information System (SIS).
  • Participate in scheduled activates such as parent orientations, homecoming, open houses, graduation, and other events as directed by the head of school.
  • Enroll children as students of PACS

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A follower of Jesus Christ
  • Master of Divinity Degree
  • Teaching Experience (high school preferred)
  • ACSI Certification (preferred)

Middle and/or High School - 

Middle School/High School English Teacher

Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for a full-time and/or part-time Middle School/High School English Teacher position for the 2019-202 school year. 

 

Overview:

The primary function of this position is to teach English to middle/high school students and to foster the students’ enthusiasm for English.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Middle/High School Principal and Academic Dean to prepare course syllabus and curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Develop a rapport with students that motivates and fosters enthusiasm
  • Creatively integrate technology in the classroom to enhance teaching
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and school goals
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • All faculty and staff are expected to play an integral role in the spiritual lives of students. This includes integration of a Biblical worldview into their subject matter and lessons.

 

Qualifications:

  • A committed Christian who is active in an evangelical Church ministry
  • Bachelor’s degree in an English related discipline is required
  • Middle School teaching experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills - exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of RenWeb, and proficiency in Smartboard preferred.
  • Opportunities for working with students in co-curricular activities are available and a willingness to work in these areas is desired but not required
  • Coaching experience preferred

High School Bible Teacher

Prince Avenue Christian School is expanding their Bible Department and is currently accepting applications for a High School Bible Teacher.

 

Overview:

The primary function of this position is to teach Bible to high school students.

  • Experience working with praise team musicians is preferred but not required.
  • Coursework in Hermeneutics and or Systematic Theology.
  •  Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a Theology related field.
  • High School teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Prince Avenue Christian School is expanding their Foreign Language Department and we are currently accepting applications for a full-time position as a High School Spanish Teacher.

 

Overview: The primary function of this position is to teach Spanish I and II to high school students.

GENERAL:

Substitute Teacher

Overview:

In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages students’ progress, and manages the learning environment in accordance with the goals and directives of the school.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures consistency and encourages student participation
  • Maintain a well-managed classroom that fosters a safe and positive teaching and learning environment
  • Assign classwork and homework to students in accordance with lesson plans
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students
  • If necessary, supervise students in areas outside of the classroom (chapel, cafeteria, playground, etc.)

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A committed Christian who is active in an evangelical church ministry
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with faculty/staff and students
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Must successfully complete a background check
  • Must be able to maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school information

Food Services Worker

IDENTIFICATION:
Job Title: Food Services Worker
Direct Supervision: Food Services Coordinator
Scope of Work: Less than 20 hours a week

 

SUMMARY:
The Food Services Worker is responsible for kitchen duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator. This includes food preparation, serving, cleanup, and sanitation. This person must be caring, supportive, enthusiastic, hard-working, self-motivated and team focused. The Food Services worker’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains sanitation in kitchen and dining facilities to maintain compliance with health and safety codes
  • Observes and maintains procedures and protocols for daily operation of kitchen and dining facilities
  • Hands-on involvement in the preparation of all meals making sure that the food quality, presentation and dining room cleanliness is always a high priority
  • Serves food on the line
  • Orients student aids and volunteers to kitchen duties, advocating creativeness and customer service
  • Ensures a clean and sanitary working environment
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator
