Col Seth Hathaway

Dr. Hathaway is in his fifteenth year at Prince Avenue Christian School and his twelfth as head of school. Under his leadership, the school has completed two comprehensive strategic plans, including PACS 2030, and has been recognized as Athens’ Best Faith-Based Private School for seven consecutive years.

Believing that exceptional schools are built by exceptional teachers, Dr. Hathaway has recruited and retained more Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Master Teachers than any of the association’s 166 member schools. His tenure has also included the successful completion of major capital campaigns supporting multimillion-dollar facilities, significant campus renovations, and strategic campus expansion.

Over the past decade, Dr. Hathaway has led the school through a 48% increase in enrollment to more than 1,000 students while maintaining a disciplined admissions process focused on enrolling mission-fit families and preserving the school’s Christ-centered culture. During this period, Prince Avenue Christian School has continued to strengthen its reputation for excellence in academics while earning multiple region and state championships in the highly competitive Georgia High School Association (GHSA).

Before becoming head of school at Prince, Dr. Hathaway served as an assistant head of school, high school principal, and Advanced Placement classroom teacher. Prior to his career in education, Colonel Hathaway served more than twenty years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, leading Marines in operations and deployments around the world. He and his wife of 36 years, Tracy, have three grown children who were educated in Christian schools.
